Development Co-Director
FOR is seeking co-director of development with professional experience and credentials in the field of fund raising, to join current incumbent in a shared role as philanthropy leaders.
The
Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR), begun in 1914, is an interfaith
peace organization of those who have joined together to explore
the power of love and truth for resolving human conflict. While
it has always been vigorous in its opposition to war and nuclear
weapons, the FOR has insisted equally that this effort be based
on a commitment to achieving a just and peaceful world community,
with full dignity and freedom for every human being. FOR’s
mission is to promote faith-based nonviolence.
Position
Description: This position is responsible for overall
strategy for development activities of FOR. The Directors
of Development (2 positions) work closely with the Executive
Director, program staff and the National Council (governing
board) to accomplish the goals of the organization by securing
contributed support through appeals, grants, deferred giving,
special events, publications and donor visits. The directors
coordinate and supervise the work of the staff of the development
department.
Nature,
Scope and Typical Work: The Directors of Development
interprets the work and philosophy of FOR to contributors.
Responsible for planning and oversight of membership development.
Works to increase total giving and diversify contribution
base. Responsible for conducting and overseeing FOR development
work including major donor support, planned giving, direct
mail, prospecting, pledge systems and grant writing.
Responsibilities
include:
- Preparation
and management of Development Budget
- Visits
and preparation of correspondence with major donors
- Plans,
implements and manages prospect outreach
- Prepares
annual schedule of direct mail appeals
- Drafting
newsletter, appeals and working with designers, printers
and mail houses
- Supervises
tracking of overall grants calendar
- Tracking
annuities, stock gifts, interest free loans, and bequests
- Works
with Director of Operations on special events
- Oversees
the maintenance of donor lists and the preparation of development
reports
- Works
with Development Committee of the National Council on fund
development agenda
- Consults
with donors on individual giving programs
- Coordinates
fundraising for FOR programs
- Coordinates
schedules for other staff and board members engaged in
donor visits.
- Supports
other income generating programs and activities for FOR
- Works
with local groups on mutually beneficial fundraising activities
- Manage
and track membership in FOR
- Conducts
annual evaluation of departmental staff
- Attends
National Council and Executive Committee meetings as appropriate
Position

Minimum of three years professional experience in fund development
required. Fund development credentials preferred.
Salary/Benefits:
Mid-$40,000. Generous benefit package includes medical benefit,
paid holidays, four weeks paid vacation, vesting in pension
fund, and life insurance.
